PACS Server In One Box, is a DICOM 3.0 compliant PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) application that combines the following components in one server or one box:

  • A DICOM server.
  • A PACS server
  • A Web server

The benefits of PacsOne versus the traditional PACS servers are:

  • Low Monthly Cost.
  • It is less complicated.
  • IT infrastructure integration. Archiving of the PACS database is just as simple as backing up files on a regular server, which makes PacsOne fit seamlessly into the rest of IT infrastructure of the entire organization.

Premium Edition offers the following features:

Feature Description
HL7 Interface Premium Edition supports an optional HL7 interface to receive and send HL7 messages via the Lower Level Transport Protocol (LLTP).
New Web User Interface Page(s) There's a new User Administration page added and it can be access from the User Administration link when logged in as super-user/administrator 'root'. From this page, the super-user/administrator 'root' can create new users, delete existing users, or modify privileges for existing users. This page can not be accessed by any other user.

Based on the User Administration Rules listed above, there are three (3) categories of users for PacsOne Server Premium Edition:

CategoryDescription
Administrator This is the pre-defined Administrator account 'root'. There is only one such account and it is required for all user administration tasks.
Power Users These accounts usually have the 'Modify' and 'View' privileges enabled by the Administrator. These users can access all patients/studies stored in the PacsOne Server database, they can also modify or delete existing database records.
Regular Users These accounts do not have the 'Modify' or 'View' privileges and they are usually created for the referring physicians or reading physicians. These users can only read existing database records but can not modify them, they can access only those Private patients/studies with matching Referring Physician Name or Reading Physician Name.
More Transfer Syntaxes Supported In addition to the default Implicit Little Endian transfer syntax, PacsOne Server Premium Edition also supports the following transfer syntaxes:

Query/Retrieve By Date/Time PacsOne Server Premium Edition supports the additional Range Matching by Date/Time method for the Query/Retrieve SOP classes.
Query/Retrieve Remote SCP Pages In addition to the currently supported feature of Querying All Patients in remote Query/Retrieve SCP applications, a new Search Remote SCP page has been added to offer the same search capabilities as searching the local PacsOne Server database:
  • Search by Patient ID, Patient Name
  • Search by Study ID, Study Date, Study Time, Accession Number
  • Search by Series Date, Series Time, Modality
  • Wild-card characters '*' and '?' can be used and the search results depend on whether the remote Query/Retrieve SCP supports the wild-card character matching method or not.
Automatic Image Routing Supports a User-Defined Automatic Image Routing Table, which consists of either a source application entity (AE) title or a routing key attribute, a destination AE title, a fixed 24-hour schedule or a [From, To] window, and the option to automatically purge received images after they have been routed successfully to the destination AE(s).
  • Route By Source AE Title:
When an image is received from a source AE, if the Source AE Title matches with one or more entries defined in the automatic routing table, then the received image will be forwarded automatically to one or more destination AE(s) defined for the matching source AE title, based on the specified schedule, which can be either as soon as received (Immediately), between a [From, To] window, or a 24-hour clock interval, e.g., 7:00 P.M.
  • Route By Key Attributes:
Users can also define a Matching Pattern String with wild-card characters like '*' and '?' for routing by key attribute tags such as Patient ID (0010,0020), Referring Physician's Name (0008,0090), Institution Name (0008,0080), or Protocol Name (0018,1030). When an image is received from a remote AE, if the key attribute tag matches with the routing key pattern defined in the automatic routing table, then the received image will be forwarded automatically to one or more destination AE(s) specified for the matching key atribute, based on the specified schedule, which can be either as soon as received (Immediately), between a [From, To] window, or a 24-hour clock interval, e.g., 7:00 P.M.
  • Automatically Purge Received Images After Routing:
After the images have been successfully routed to the destination AE(s), users can choose whether or not to delete the received images by enabling or disabling the Auto Purge variable of the specified route entry. By default, Auto Purge is Disabled so that received images will not be purged automatically after they have been routed.
Importing External Patients/Studies Supports importing/reading external patients/studies stored in DICOM Media Stoarage Formatted (with or without DICOMDIR directory record) CD/DVD/Dual-Layer DVD media, such as CD/DVD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW/RAM or DVD+R/RW, into PacsOne Server database.
Exporting Patients/Studies Supports exporting/writing patients/studies stored in PacsOne Server database to a local directory using DICOM Media Storage Service Formats (with DICOMDIR directory record), which can then be archived to CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW/RAM or DVD+R/RW long-term storage media using a CD/DVD/Dual-Layer DVD burner. Users can optionally compress exported volumes into ZIP files which can be downloaded after the export is completed. User can also optionally include external viewer program files when exporting patients, studies, series to CD/DVD/Dual-Layer DVD media, so that the images exported can be viewed from the included viewer application on the CD/DVD.
Printing Color and Grayscale Images From Anywhere With A Browser Supports Dicom Basic Grayscale and Color Print Management SOP classes as a SCU, so users can select a list of patients, studies, series or images from a browser after logging into PacsOne, and print them out to any Dicom-compliant printer from anywhere in the world.
Study and Image Notes Supports Bulletin-Board Style Online Discussions about a subject study or image. Users with the Upload privielege can also upload text files, Word/PDF documents, ZIP files, or even audio/video clips as attachments to any study note or image note.
Periodic Statistics Report Supports statistics reports for studies received on a daily, weekly, monthly basis or a user-defined time period. A daily/weekly/monthly statistics report email will be automatically sent to the Administrator if the Administrator's email address and a SMTP server are configured.
System Journal Log Supports HIPAA Auditing requirements by logging user activities to a System Journal Log. A monthly System Journal Log will be emailed automatically to the Administrator if the Administrator's email address and a SMTP server are configured.
Automatic Logout Browser Sessions Supports the enhanced security feature to automatically logout browser sessions if they have been idle for certain period of time (default is 10 minutes).
Automatic Password Expiration Supports the enhanced security feature to automatically expire user passwords after a fixed period (default is 60 days), and force the users to select a new password before they can login again.
Automatically Purging Aged Archive Directories Users can optionally enable this Automatic Archive Directory Purging feature by defining a Low-Water Mark and High-Water Mark in terms of disk usage percentages. Once the disk usage percentage of the archive directories drops below the user-defined low-water mark, PacsOne Server Premium Edition will start purging older studies stored in the archive directories based on the date the studies were received. PacsOne Server will complete purging older studies after the disk usage percentage has risen above the user-defined high-water mark.
Synchronization with Remote Studies Users can optionally enable this Remote Study Synchronization feature by selecting up to 24 hourly schedules, when they define a remote AE that supports Dicom Query/Retrieve functions as a SCP. Users can select whether to synchronize all studies or only those recent studies received within the last N days.
Upload Dicom Images from Web Browsers Users can upload Dicom Part-10 formatted raw images from any web browsers (e.g., MSIE, FireFox, etc.) into the PacsOne Server database.
Automatic-Scan for Importing Dicom Images The software can automatically scan a pre-defined local source directory periodically, and import any Dicom Part-10 formatted raw images (*.dcm) into the PacsOne Server database.
Multiple Server Instances of PacsOne Server Supports multiple server instances running simultaneously on different TCP port numbers. To set up more than one instance of PacsOne Server, just run the 'Setup.exe' in the PacsOne Server installation directory and specify a new AE title and TCP port number. The log files for all PacsOne Server instances are kept under the 'log' sub-directory of where PacsOne Server was installed, with one sub-directory for each AE title of PacsOne Server instance.
Server Instance Monitoring Supports monitoring of server instances or processes. If any server instance/process exits abnormally for any reason whatsoever, a new server instance will automatically be started to eliminate service downtime.
Performance and Scalability These optimizations have enabled the database to reach the 100 million plus (100,000,000+) images mark while still maintaining good query response time for both the web and Dicom client applications.
